Somedays...
..all it takes to make me happy are new dish sponges and candy.
Today was definitely one of those days.

The last night of the Fair...and the grease in the hair.
Going to the Kern County Fair has become a tradition where we eat almost anything deep-fried on a stick; this especially includes corndogs and deep-fried twinkies. (Don't knock it 'till you try it, yo!) Taking photos in the photo booth is also a must. Last year we had a jail theme - this year G wanted to do two in a "70's album cover open-mouthed stare" and the last two speak for themselves. ;)

I Dream of Wallpaper
It started when I saw the Woods design from Cole and Sons. The very nice girl at Rose and Radish who agreed to send me samples in every color told me that this particular design was "very popular." Hmmm, maybe I should look for something else, you know being the design trail blazer that I am...plus it's almost double the price of other just-as-fantastic designs.
After that I found myself tumbling into oblivion lusting after rolls and rolls of wallpaper without any regard to style or color. (this included designs with tigers and bats.)
I even started checking out wall decals which I originally thought kind of weird but started considering (especially for a cheaper and much more easily installed look.)
Branches and Hydrangea from Ferm Living.
I keep telling myself that we only need enough paper to adorn our very drab and uninspiring entryway so it shouldn't be too expensive - except for the fact that doing this might create a massive domino effect of little "updates" throughout the house. And I would probably have to try to put up the paper myself because G is not currently feeling the love of wallpaper application.
Curses.....Maybe I'll just paint.

My new bunny
My new bunny is actually a watercolor print purchased from new found artist Amber Alexander. Her renderings are so charming and Beatrix Potter-esque that I became inspired with the notion of finding the perfect pieces to adorn the newly painted walls of our (now) guest room and (future - who knows when) baby room. (Yikes, did I just say that?...) Now all I have to do is scout out the perfect little frame where my bunny will live for ever and ever.
Check out all of her creatures (cutely clad and otherwise) here!

I Vote
A friend passed an email on to me from the duo behind the blog Women Against Sarah Palin. I felt compelled to speak my piece and damn it felt good.

102 Blues
Just when I thought it was safe to talk about cold weather, here comes a 102 degree heat wave. Curses! ....Thank the heavens for the annual Greek Food Festival at St. George's downtown where we'll most likely drown our summer sorrows in beer (with baklava of course!)

Dreams of Cold Weather
I know that summer has just now faded away but for those of us over on the West Side, summer doesn't really end until right before Halloween. Although I'd have to wait a long time to wear (or afford!) any of these items, I just felt like dreaming about it. ;)

Music for September
My friend in Spain tipped me off to a great new band, Fleet Foxes. I love what I've heard so far. Thanks, Raquel!
